From 5 March to 2 June 2020, Rome’s Scuderie del Quirinale will host “Raffaello 1520-2020”, a truly unique monographic exhibition about Raphael. A number of must-see paintings by the iconic Italian artist will be showcased: “Portrait of Baldassarre Castiglione” and “Self-portrait with a Friend” will be on loan from the Louvre, the “Madonna of the Grand Duke” and the wonderful “Woman with a Veil” from the Uffizi Gallery, the “Alba Madonna” from the National Gallery in Washington, the “Saint Cecilia” from the Bologna Picture Gallery and the “Madonna of the Rose” from the Prado Museum.
The exhibition traces the connections between Florence and Rome, which welcomed and propelled Raphael’s success, and explores the artist’s entire production: from painting to sculpture, from decorative arts to architecture and even urban planning.
The special exhibition is held this year to celebrate the 500 years since Raphael’s death, in Rome on 6 April 1520.
